I won’t even bother to explain all my reasons for loving this series, other reviewers have already done that. And even though I know my review won’t even make a drop in the bucket of 5-star ratings, I would be remiss if I didn’t point out the poor quality of these DVDs. First of all, I noticed right away that the plastic was marred a bit on the very inside of the center hole of Disc 2, but figured it wouldn’t matter. Then I tried playing them. Disc 1 has a glitch. Halfway through the “Heart Smashers,” my favorite episode of all time, the sound quality suddenly changes and gets worse as if someone has just messed with a graphic equalizer. In a bad way.

I returned the first set to Amazon, and got a new set, thinking that would solve the problem. Wrong. The sound glitch on disc 1 was still there, and this time, the plastic on two discs was marred instead of just one.

There is absolutely no excuse for such terrible quality and for a glitch that went out on every DVD.

I can’t wait to get this dvd. the show is very funny and one of the best cartoons ever made. If you have baught the first 3 seasons then this is a must buy. if you have never seen this show before you should rent it to see how you like it. It might not rank in populatrity like the simpsons or south park but the humor is basically the same as them. The series is about a young boy named bredon small and his 2 friends jason and mellisa and they make “Home Movies”. The movies they make tend to be pretty weird and insane but extrememly funny. One of my favorite characters is coach mcguirk. he is a lazy overwieght fowl mouth drunken soccor coach who brendon is always getting advice from. He is always hitting on women that obviously dont want anything to do with him and he is always looking to make a quick buck. I have read on another site that this set will include a CD of the songs the creator Brendon Small has put together. Im pretty sure they said there will be a CD with 50 tracks or so on it. This show will be missed after this season is released on DVD but atleast we all get to watch our favorite episodes over and over agian.

Yeah I bought this
Just to finish the series. I got sick of waiting for Cartoon network to air the episodes in order or for Comcast to upload them to the on demand channel available for free. so yah im a sucker. Haa

Well there is some bonus stuff on the dvds, nothing special, just some stupid games, the menu animations are OK. again nothin special.
It comes with a music CD with songs from a few episodes which are short but fun. I like the song with Maguirk singing “I’ll Race” Coach Maguirk is easily the best character. The songs are usualy the most memorable part of any episode and the creator no doubt has talent for piecing together a catchy and quirky song about anything.

This has 3 discs with like 4 eps on each disc. The episodes are ok not the best but some are good, and you get the final episode which isn’t bad and really works as a farewell.

The Dvd commentary by the creators of the show, is pretty worthless and stupid. They just talk about their personal lives and crack inside jokes, but its kind of interesting to hear the voices of the characters talking about themselves instead of acting. The creator mentions how Home Movies is pretty much done and gone because DVD sales havent been that good ( no surprise). Oh well thats kinda sad for fans, but I always thought of Home Movies as an experimental comedy and not really a full fleged show,( even though it started to catch on ) it was kinda like what Beavis and Butthead was to King of the Hill.

Home Movies is an early work of writer Brendon Small ( same name as the main character) who will no doubt go on to do bigger projects ( and not just Metalpocalypse )just like Mike Judge went on to do King of the Hill, but Beavis and Butthead remained a cult classic.

I would like to have seen 1 OVA or a made for DVD movie based on the series, like maybe about what happened when the 3 grew up, but I doubt that will ever take fruition, as the creator doesnt even have the intrest in doing so, but the fans always have the power to bring it back if they shell out the money.

If you havent seen any other episodes or just a few here and there, this isnt worth buying. Its only worth it if you intend to collect them all ( theyre really isnt that many ) Its kind of a tribute to simplistic animation and comedy so if your a student of those genres than you might want to pick this up but your probably better off just recording it from tv or finding it on the web cause this is just a shiny package for the fanboys to add to their collection of adult cartoons.
