the nova-flo uses a pressure sensitive gate in which a certain amount of water triggers the system to block the water from escaping the nozzle. Simple and effective.
Great product. The best part is that he took a very simple idea, with some good engineering background, and made it very applicable.

I’d imagine the technology inside Nova-Flo is similar to automatic fuel delivery nozzles where a little chamber is flooded causing a float to shut the flow off.

I like the product but I’m not sure that I would invest. You would almost need to market them to insurance companies in order so they will make this product a requirement for new housing…and there’s not a lot of new housing right now. Second if he does sell to the housing associations, what is the incentive? They cannot make their members buy this stuff and install it…I believe his projections are high as far as sales go.

I’ve seen the Canadian version – they’re even more prone to hefty percentages. On UK DD it’s a bit of a taboo to go for over 50%.. not so for the Canucks.

This is good in places where chavs like to put bog paper down the sink,and flood places by leaving the taps on etc..This is still a good product regardless of other peoples criticism’s of its utility and market…Its a safety net and a good one,esp for landlords with pisshead student accomodation that cause loads of damage..

The dragons although they compete with each other are a cartel as well,some times it looks like insider dealing and pschology tactics they way they bounce the idea amongst eachother to go over the candidates head,with various percentages to make another look better than it is when viewed from the other offers.(eg a tank is half full or emptyetc)

I think it is a good invention because i have got in the bath pissed before and fallen asleep with the taps still running…(ok i know thats my stupid fault and thanks bro for finding me in time) But beyond stupidity we do leave things on,or a child doesn’t turn the tap off properly,and with any object blocking the plug ;be it flanel, soap,potatoe peelings or plug it self;this is a better cure.Sometimes the dragons piss on clever things because;money they have,invention they don’t…

I like this episode. Product is a no brainer, & should be assumed that everyone will use it, need to educate the market that is de-facto & every new sink comes installed with it. With worldwide protection massive market share will ensue. Remember these are venture capitalists, 9 out of 10 ventures they invest in fail, even as picky as they are. But the chap desperately needs a good mentor and maybe giving 40% equity to be pretty much gauranteed success is worth it.
